As you can imagine, the upkeep of ponies, maintaining safe facilities and paying staff wages is a large expense and at present it costs £80,000 per year to keep our group running.

 

Unfortunately we are not council or government funded and although we are a member group of National Riding for the Disabled Association who provide training and advice, they do not support us financially.

 

Wakefield RDA must continually fundraise to keep the group up and running, by organising raffles, tombola's and horse related events each year such as sponsored rides or dressage events.

 

Riders and carriage drivers make a small contribution for their sessions.

 

Our fundraiser applies for grants to purchase tack and equipment and we are very grateful to the Charitable Trusts, Local Community Groups and Funders who have supported us over the past 17 years.
