Student Support

Support and Reviews

Making a basket

Each student receives the support that he or she requires. The aim is to increase students’ independence so that they become less dependent on support, in preparation for their life after college.

Co-workers meet on a regular basis to assess students’ immediate needs. When necessary there are also in-depth meetings concerned with the progress and needs of individual students, and also with the working of group activities. There is usually a weekly meeting in each house where students are involved in planning of leisure activities and sharing of views.

Annual Reviews

An annual review is held for each student together with their parents, carers, Connexions advisers, social workers and others concerned with the progress of the student. It concentrates both on progress and on immediate and longer-term needs. The student attends part of the review and is encouraged to comment. The review is also an opportunity to initiate any action or documentation in support of the student's placement.
